30 Days 30 Minutes

03/31/2019
30 for 30 JMJ

April 1st. On a Monday. A month with 30 days. So, in my mind, the perfect opportunity to commit to something new. So let’s do it. 30 days, 30 minutes a day of movement. Who’s in?!

Parker is 7 months tomorrow. 7 months. And if I’m being honest, I truly thought by now I’d have my old body back or better…. be holding my sweet little baby girl with some enviable arm muscles ready to hop into a bikini right about now and take her to the beach. But I’m not, AT ALL.

Now I’m not trying to body shame myself or anyone else that might look like me or who recently had a baby. My body is strong, it grew a beautiful baby and kept her healthy and growing even when we were scared it wasn’t going to be able to. And I have a new respect for it, and less worries about its form. That being said, I am a little disappointed in myself for not making working out a priority and getting myself in the shape I wanted to be in post baby, until now. I’m a little disappointed I haven’t taken more time for myself to do something that I love (working out) that will make me feel confident and comfortable and more like myself again. I’m disappointed I couldn’t be consistent gosh darn it!

In some ways I’ve put it off in the name of “not having time” but to be honest, I do have the time, I just haven’t made it a priority so other things have taken it’s place. But I’m ready to get back into it. I feel like I have energy, I have the time, and I have no more patience for my own lame ass excuses – HA!

I’m starting simple, a commitment to move my body everyday for 30 days, just 30 minutes a day. That’s what I’m starting out with, to see how it makes me feel (because I don’t really expect physical changes in 30 days) and to not overwhelm myself. Because who doesn’t have 30 minutes to move your body?! NO ONE, STOP KIDDING YOURSELF.

You can walk, you can stretch, you can do a yoga class, cycle class, some video on YOUTUBE, whatever you can get in, just freaking DO IT. I’m going to do BBG because I already have the program and it’s a 30 minute program each day and can be done at home so it REALLY checks all my boxes. If you’re looking for programs it’s a great one to try and really can adapt for all fitness levels. Another great for the same price is beach body which my sister-in-law Irene is a coach for and has COMPLETELY changed her life. I’ve also got a leg day workout (seriously an ass kicker) and arms and abs workout that would be great to rotate in as well!

Commit to it. Even if you’re on the fence. It’s only 30 minutes and only 30 days. Need further reason? What else are you going to do while you listen to the pump up playlist below?! Headphones in, the first song, and you’ll be ready to go!

30 DAYS 30 MINUTES PLAYLIST

(Longer than 30 minutes, to keep things interesting each day!)

Alright to keep us all honest, I’m going to check in via Instagram and I WANT YOU to as well. Once you’ve done your workout, add an instagram story, send me a dm or post a pic of your sweatier, happier self and tag #JMJ30days30minutes. This way we can check out everyone doing it and get motivated TOGETHER!

Cheers to 30 for 30!

XO,

JESS
